Will he be eligible to play this Fall?? Moving from one D 1 school to another; I thought he would have to sit out one year.

Written on Rawane Ndiaye, Darius Thompson to visit UT:

Could it be that these players (possibly) leaving is a new situation for CCM as the players had not told him they were thinking about leaving? CCM may be just trying to find the best of what is left in order to have some back up players to spell the starters. Whatever the case maybe it does seem to be a so what strange situation going on behind the scenes.

Written on Creighton taking confidence from Missouri's upset of Lady Vols in February :

I live up here in the MVC area and watch Creighton, Wichita State all the time. Several of the play by play guys on TV have made mention of the fact that they no longer consider the MVC to be a "mid-major" both their men's and women's teams in BB. Creighton is a lot like Mizzou; they love the three ball and the Lady Vols are slow to defend it. If the Bluejays are hot from the three then, I hate to say it, but the Lady Vols are going down. I've been a Lady Vols fan since Pat came to UT in the 70's but the truth is the truth; they've got to defend the three better than they did against Mizzou. Go Lady Vols!!!!

Written on Tennessee Vols again vow to improve:

Ok so they were disappointed that they did not make the big dance - - cry me a river. They were invited to the NIT and they accepted the invitation. Now show some PRIDE and defend your home court!!! Want to PROVE you were snubbed by the NCAA? Then go out and win the NIT; show everyone the selection committee made a mistake. Over the years lots of big time BB programs have ended up in the NIT; so do something with that chance. Watching the game I noticed a couple of things. Seems as through the starting line up was different than during the "run" at the end of the season; so why change it? Why did Chevios start?? And there was another player (forget his name) that took Richardson's place. Strokes looks so awkward when he dribbles the ball two - three times and then he seemingly has only one move to the right and then a little hook. Seems he can't get off the ground when he is around the basket; he's not above the rim much like most big guys. He needs to work on his vertical. Team loses two seniors and hopefully they gain two incoming players that can immediately take the offense to another level; McRae can't do it alone; as he got help from others inconsistently. And then he is inconsistent as well. Some have stated that Martin shows no emotion on the side line. That is NOT his personality. He has learned from his life experiences to be even keeled. He does have passion for basketball and UT. Some keep comparing Martin to (I could have a heart attack at anytime)Bruce. They are simply different personalities. I've been watching Vol sports since the 60's and I love to win but this NOT playing because you got your feelings hurt is NOT acceptable. I love my Vols but this team has got to get better.

Just one last thing; PLEASE watch some film from Bruce's teams as how to defend an in bounds pass and more importantly how to score off in bounds passes Bruce's teams were pretty good at those two things.

Written on Chattanooga's season-opening upset of Lady Vols turned out good for both teams:

Losses are LEARNING EXPERIENCES if you allow them to be. Lady Vols were (are) a young team with a new coaching staff (they were also learning their roles and how best to work / coach together). I think it was a great way to start and get the teams' attention. NO one lays down for the Lady Vols; in fact seems everyone brings their "A" game when playing the Lady Vols. This year was good and not over but next couple of years are going to be great!!!!

Written on Tennessee left in the hands of the committee, but Cuonzo Martin thinks his team deserves to be in:

in response to eb502us#225637:

I disagree.

We had a decent record but most of our big wins in an a below average SEC were the result of timing. We beat KY in their first game after the Noel injury (and they've been pathetic since). We beat UF without two of their best players and we beat a Mizzou team that can't beat anyone on the road. So three of our best wins aren't all that.

Bottom line is that we are a better than average SEC team which isn't saying much.

I'm really tired of hearing that we just happen to beat KY after they lost a guy; it was an even match at Rupp which KY won. Also, KY had the number one recruiting class again this year so if everyone is THAT good why did losing one of those GREAT players make that much difference?? I can see that happening if a team has no other GREAT recruits / players but KY is loaded. And yes, we beat FLA when they were down two players but then again everyone that beat us this year beat us without Maymon. I don't understand your point. You play the teams that are playing together at the scheduled time; whether they have all of their players or not. The Lady Vols having been playing with only 7 - 8 player most of the year. Do they get to "replay the teams that beat them" when they had 2 -3 players out due to injury??? NOT!!!! Yes, they have been up and down this year (UT men) but hey did win 9 of the last 11?? I believe; so over the last third of the season they are one of the hottest teams in the nation. If they make the NCAA I hope they win at least 2 - 3 games; I don't see anymore than that realistically. GO VOLS!!!!

I agree johnlg00. A lot of folks come on here and slam McBee but he almost always gets the toughest defensive assignment and he's almost always shorter and slower than the other guy. We have a new coaching staff who will be trying to build a team with player they did not recruit and will be playing the toughest schedule in D 1 football (according to several articles I read on line). Don't get me wrong I too, want to win and return to the 90's (or better) but winning next year is going to be a trick.

Perspective People - Calm the H... Down

1. No Isabelle Harrison
2. Mizzou players remember that 45 point butt kicking
3. Make no mistake, the Lady Vols always get the other teams best game on their home court.
4. Still a young team of 18 & 19 years olds so this is not unheard of for them to go on the road in a hostile environment and not show up.
5. Still missing senior leadership. Spani and Williams are not natural leaders. The Lady Vols haven't had real senior leadership since Anosike and Parker.
6.The season is not over, not by a long shot.
7. UK lost today too, hate on that for a little while.
8. For those who are critical of Coach Warlick, funny when they won by 45 everything was great. Get over yourselves - you don't have the stones to be a coach so stop critizing the coaches who do.
9. That's why the call them "upsets" - it happens.
10. They are experiencing the injury bug and depth issues. They were tired in the second half and it showed.

Don't get me wrong, I thought this was a win too, but I didn't think it was going to be an easy win. Move on already.

WOW, what gives you the right to come on here and state the truth!!!! I, too, am a LADY VOL fan for longer than most on here can recall. Some will and have already stated that Holly is not a Head Coach, that the team was not prepared, etc, etc. It happens; it ain't pretty when it happens but it does. I'm sure the coaches and players aren't happy with the outcome but all they can do is learn from it (and get healthy) and move on. We've several game left. I'm more concerned with the injury bug at UT than I am anything else; we may have to start asking for "Volunteers to join the team on the court if we have any more injuries this year. Go Lady Vols!!! This year you will learn and next year you will grow into one of the best teams in the nation. We've got to get up to full strength; if evryone was available we would only have 9 - 10 players when we could have as many as 14???

Written on A road map for getting back: Study shows Vols' fall from glory years:

in response to JonGrudensAgent:

When you go from a coach that is too arrogant to think he needs to recruit in state(see the Willis being passed over by Fulmer story circulating) to one who left the state in the dead of the night to another coach who was too lazy, arrogant, and unmotivated to go to any of the schools in the state, it's not hard to see why in state recruiting has faltered.

There simply isn't enough in state talent to completely build a program in TN, but there is plenty to consistently put nice core groups of classes together with it. No one can sell this program to out of state players like a kid whose life long dream was to wear Orange.

Jones needs to start off by winning the in state battles. Losing to the Vandy's of the world on or off the field is unacceptable.

Then there needs to be a reestablishment of a foothold in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. UT is never going to pull the best players from these states but their leftovers can help fill a solid roster. Look at Charlie Strong and Louisville as an example. WVU made a living under Doc Holliday a few years ago in Florida.

I think he needs to use Graham to put the UT flag down in North Carolina and up state South Carolina. There is plenty of talent in those states to sustain multiple programs in the ACC. The lure of being an SEC school and reasonable proximity to Knoxville should be giving plenty of recruits in those areas to think about.

Before Jones worries about recruiting nationally per Fulmer's advice, he needs to recruit regionally.

Jones is going to have to be relentless in recruiting to undo the mess made by Fulmer, Kiffin, and Dooley. Remains to be seen if he is up to the task.

I agree with your post. Just what I was thinking. The state of Tennessee can provide a nucleus of players and we will have to go else where to get the others; as we have done in the past. And there should have been no legacy player going to Bama. Means we didn't do our job in the past. Oh I know we will miss a few but other teams recruiting Tennessee is just not acceptable without a fight; just like we will go into some other states and take some good players.

Written on A road map for getting back: Study shows Vols' fall from glory years:

What I've never understood is the fact that the state of Tennessee does not produce many D 1 players each year as per the sports media.
Yet other schools come to Tennessee and recruit well. Almost every SEC school has one or two players from Tenn on its roster; Bama has one or two that are seniors or Juniors who have made an impact at Bama. Yes Memphis is closer to the Mississippi schools, Ark, LA, ALA, etc than Knoxville but Jones must start at home in ALL of Tennessee. Tennessee has always recruited well nationally so build with Tennessee boys and get the others nationally. We've got to have those that WANT to play for Tennessee. Look at how many 4 and 5 stars actually make it to the NFL and look at the number of 3 stars that make it. The lower ranked players are not afraid to work hard whereas many of the higher ranked players think that it should be "handed to them". Recruit Tennessee every other SEC team does; usually getting a successful recruit. GO VOLS!!!

Written on Isabelle Harrison to undergo knee surgery:

May not be a Final Four team this year but (barring more injuries) they can make the Elite 8.

I do agree that the roster is depleted; one main player out for the season and two more that get playing time are playing hurt: McBee and Golden. Another thing that comes to mind; CCM is working with players left over from Bruce that Bruce did not used much as they were mostly bench warmers. CCM has recruited a couple and so far they have been good: Stokes and the freshman guard. Give CCM some more time before stating he can't coach or put together a winning team. I don't like losing either but CCM IS the Head Coach and I will support him and the team. Bobby Knight once said sometimes its better to be lucky than good.

Finally, let's try to support our new head coach, staff, and team as this new chapter is written. Anyone who thinks this first recruiting class will be top 10 is just not paying attention. Time will tell where we are for 2013. Meanwhile all the belly-aching, reliving the lean years of lately, and comparing all the numerous star athletes by other SEC teams, is not helpful. GO VOLS!

I thought that real fans were suppose to "back" whoever the coach is. Sadly there are too many on here that like to call true VOL FANS names and berate those fans any way possible. It gets really old quickly. No I was not in love with Dolley but I did support him because he was the Head Coach of the TENNESSEE VOLS!!! It's a roll of the dice no matter who was hired. Saban was hired by Miami because he did a great job at LSU and look how that turned out for Miami. So please given the new coach a chance. Seems some folks on here would fire a new employee on their second day just because another employee did not like the new employee. I agree with you golfman. I believe everyone is learning their roles on this team and the staff. I do not doubt Warlick; it's always a adjust moving up one chair along the sidelines and you've got to make the team believe in you as a coach and they've got to believe in the new staff. Under Cuonzo UT's style is now grinding out wins..

BBEARE
I'm very aware of Zo's style. I watched him coach while he was here at Mo State. If you recall he came to K-town and all but beat Pearl's last team. Apparently UT has no one who can shoot the bal or is willing to take it to the hoop. Zo's teams aren't just defense although that comes first. At Mo State he did have some players that would shoot and score. If UT could find someone that could consistently score from anywhere that would take pressure off Stokes and perhaps they could get the ball inside more. Right now, IMHO, all other teams just double on Stokes and aren't concerned about much of anybody else. Tonight only one UT player in double figures. The only reason Reese made it into the game is that Maymon is going to end up redshirt for this year and Zo is trying to find someone who can score. I've read an article or two about some of the players stating they are ready to "step up" and become a leader and every game is seems these willing leaders just hide in the shadows. I do not blame Zo (fully) as he can't shoot it for them (if he, or some of the assist. coaches could we would have won at least two more games). A player like Lofton would be a great help. Seems we are playing with several player hurt: our point has a hurt shoulder and McBee has a elbow problem on his shooting arm.. . . OH well GO VOLS!!!!!
