I hate to admit it, but I agree with you on this one. Several Kentucky players were in fact released when Calipari took the Kentucky job. I thought it was not right and I spoke out against it.

But your post says a lot about your personal character and integrity. You seem to see this as a good thing because UT will have a stronger team with better players and after all as you say people who are opposed to this "know nothing about the world of big-time sports". I am pretty sure you are the type of person who lies and twists the truth then stabs people in the back to gain some advantage in life.

Just Saying

Baloney. You didn't call out Calipari. How can anyone here believe that for a second. "Seven T" only posts are as a trolling hack.

It is understandable. As a Vol fan, you want UT and its people to succeed.

I wasn't gonna say anything on this thread, under the auspices of "If you can't say anything good, don't..." But c'mon Sheep, how much Fulmeraide have you been drinking? "... Fulmer was forced to hold the press conference announcing the end of his UT career...?" That is total bull-hockey. Fulmer and Ms. Vicki insisted on holding that press conference, and what a pitiful sob-story disaster they turned it into. Pitiful, absolutely pitiful.

Instead of walking away with his head held high like a real hero would, he had to beat his chest one more time while Ms. Vicki mopped his brow and glowered into the cameras - while they were sitting there with a $6 mil p-note in their pocket.

U r full of beans. Fulmer did himself in. He got lazy and complacent by his own admission. Lets not even mention the Clawfence......the demise of UT football started under Fulmer's watch.

Don't get me wrong. Coach Fulmer will always bleed orange and I will always admire and respect his contributions to UT. But it was time for him to be put out to pasture. If he was so great why is he still not coaching anywhere after 5 years? (crickets chirping)

Written on UT's prayers answered as Vanderbilt misses chances to win at buzzer:

in response to BigVolinCarolina:

I knew the moment that UT hired Cuonzo Martin that it would be hard for everyone (players and fans) to adjust to his style of play.

I remember watching Cuonzo play in college under Purdue's Gene Keady. Cuonzo runs the same sytem as Keady--focus on defense and run a methodical offense.(Quite a contrast to Pearl's system).

Martin's approach is essentially BuzzBall (remember Buzz Peterson) but with better players. As with any coach at any level, the key is to win games. If you don't win, no one will want to come see you play--and that adage is all-the-more true in a system like Cuonzo's. This system is geared for games in the mid-50's, and it only works if you can impose your defensive will on your opponent.

It was the right thing for Pearl to get the boot. I wish Cuonzo the best, but his teams have little margin for error under his system. Hope we can keep winning! Go Big Orange!!

Fairly accurate. I saw his is MO St. teams play many times. CCM just needs a couple of shooters for his style to start cruising to 8-10 point wins. He developed a loser (MOS) into a conference leader (MVC is best mid-major bb). Since he left, MOS is back to its avg way. CCM is an excellent coach. He will get it done.

Written on UT's prayers answered as Vanderbilt misses chances to win at buzzer:

For the coach whiners and criers -
Anyone who has watched CCM's career for more than a few months knows that he is an excellent coach! The cupboard was not exactly full when he got here. Signed Stokes to the surprise of many. Certainly didn't cause the infection to Maymon. Stop crying and use your brains.

Written on Tennessee snaps scoring slump, beats No. 23 Wichita State, 69-60 :

in response to rockypop:

I can tell you that having played at Cincinnati during the 60's, when the Missouri Valley Conference was the best basketball conference in the country, beating Wichita State is a big deal.

In spite of the fact that the MVC has lost some of its past glory, it's still one of the best BB conferences in college basketball. This win was as quality a win as UT will have all year.

CCM kind of downplayed WS as not being the high quality opponent that he would have liked to schedule, but he knows how good these guys are, and what their history is. It's all good - for UT and WS.

Actually CCM played up WS, defending their RPI earlier this week.

Written on Mike Strange: Butch Jones dreamed of a job like Tennessee :

This is the closest thing to an objective SEC-town column about the hilarious hire of the man Cincinnati calls "Mr. Commitment." Choice # 6 takes his "dream job," lucky for him a bunch of others turned it down. I wonder if his kids had a chance to talk to Dooley's kids about these wonderful Vols fans? The honeymoon goes on for 9 more months, while BJ remains undefeated. Just wait 'til September....

Perhaps you need to poob again?

Written on Mike Strange: Butch Jones dreamed of a job like Tennessee :

in response to BigVolFaninSC:

I like the fact that Tennessee was his "dream job"!...And the fact that he turned down other jobs hoping to get this one! Get those coaches in place and recruit, recruit, recruit! GBO!

We needed someone who sees UT for its heritage brand, greatness, and opportunity. We got that in Jones. The fact that he turned down Colorado and Purdue and then jumps at UT is indicative. Apparently the timing of Strong turning us down caused him to believe that he should remain open to a shot at UT. I like that. He thinks big about UT.

Written on John Adams: Reality reigns in UT hire :

Written on Do you believe Butch Jones is the right choice to be UT's coach?:

After watching the replay of the Coach Jones introduction presser and looking deeper at his coaching history, I must say that I can now vote, "yes." I wasn't sure about this hire until then. Here are were the three convincing revelations for me.
1. He is a winner.
2. He clearly WANTED to be the HC at UT.
3. He is confident (not arrogant).

Supposedly Gruden has been mulling over this job for the last what 30 days now, paying this guy with no college football experience even 6 million dollars ayear is ludicrous . Written on Philadelphia report says Eagles keen to hire Gruden:

in response to TNVOLNTX:

I respectfully disagree. I'm no prude and I want to win as much as anyone and I'll grant you that Petrino could probably make that happen as quickly as anyone - his track record proves it. His track record also proves him to be a quitter, a moral degenerate, and someone who would chase the next big offer held under his nose. Look, I realize we aren't hiring a Sunday School teacher, but rather a football coach. As such there are things that I might be willing to overlook. Petrino is a winner. Yes! However, everything else about the man is the antithesis of what I'd want my son to be. Furthermore, through the whole CFP firing, CLK hiring, CLK quitting, Pearl scandal, I had my fill of seeing the University I love making front page news for everything other than what took place on the field or on the court. Petrino would bring more of the same simply because Tennessee will have been "THE UNIVERSITY" who gave him his next big break less than one year after exiting disgracefully from his prior engagement, which by the way makes 3 straight gigs he has left high and dry under less than desirable circumstances. NO THANK YOU!

Great stuff!

Dungy built Tampa roster and program from dirt to contender before taking Colts job. Gruden won Super Bowl with Tampa next season (seldom threatening beyond the first round of a playoff following). Gruden or Dungy?

Clarification - not "multiple" Super Bowl appearances but "contending" appearances.

Dungy record, 139-69
Gruden record, 95-81

Both winners

Gary Patterson may be the best "COLLEGE" coach. Known for fierce defenses and smart balanced offenses. Down year with some players getting booted over summer, may be time to get him thinking about moving on to somewhere new. SEC best place to go. If it's pro maybe Jack Del Rio. I think anything else may be second tier, Strong may get look but I'm iffy on him. This is if you do not believe all the Gruden rumors, but its been awhile since he coached, may be a careful what you wish for even though he is proven commodity.

If I didn't know better, I would think that you were talking about CPF.

Written on John Adams: If not Jon Gruden, how about Bobby Petrino or Tommy Tuberville? :

in response to walt2010:

Not crazy about Tuberville - though he was good in big games, he also had a penchant for losing a couple games most years that his team had no business losing.

If we can't get Gruden or Patterson, Petrino would be a great choice. Adams makes some pretty strong points regarding what the job is and isn't; if we as a nation can re-elect a president who had admitted to an affair with an intern, I think Vol fans can suffer through competing for SEC and national championships.

Finally, people do from time to time learn from their mistakes - Metta World Used-to-be-able-to-ball, for instance, hasn't jumped into the stands in a few years now. Pac Man Jones hasn't been arrested in a strip joint lately. I think Petrino is as least as smart as Metta and Pac Man. There's at least a small chance he might be really grateful for being hired to the top open job in college football and might labor to earn the trust the university had bestowed upon him. And if he could take Arkansas to a top-five ranking while being distracted with motorcycle rides, imagine what he could do if he did turn over a new leaf and was channeling all of his energy into his job.

Matthew 7:1: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged."

Blind hypocrisy.

Your first paragraph is a "judgement" on Tuberville. Then your last line is an "oft quoted out of context" verse in the Bible as if to say, "I dare you to call one right and another wrong." Albeit the Scriptures make the judgement already.

I really have a hard time believing the same guys from last year's 27th ranked NCAA Defense can be this bad simply with a new defensive scheme. It's not going to work. They continue to look confused on virtually every pass play. They couldn't line up for Troy's 2-point conversion without having to call a TO. The defense is disorganized, and I think THAT falls on the DC.

ABSOLUTELY falls on DC

Guys, Dooley's not going to get fired after a win. Even against Troy. Even though it was a nail-biter. Sal? That might be a different story. The defensive effort was inexplicably horrible. I simply think changing the defensive lineup back to a 4-3 (or anything else other than this one) is what the Vols need to do. The 3-4 simply will not work here.

BTW, if Dooley deserves blame for the defense, why doesn't he get any credit for the offense? And if it's all Chaney's playcalling, fine, but then why doesn't Dooley get credit for letting Chaney call the plays?

Point. But can you really try to be reasonable when angst is legitimately topping the meter?
