To answer the question why high school defensive linemen become college offensive linemen.

Offense = assignment football

Defense = reaction football

You pick your HS team in the following manner.
Quarterback, Defense, Offense

In HS the best athletes play defense. In college, these same players might be better suited playing offense only.

This is probably as clear as mud.

On Michael gaining momentum for UT job

What about Mike DeBord? He is the current OC at Michigan. He will be unemployed after 1 January. Michigan runs the I Pro Multiple offense.* Coach DeBord was the OC during Michigan's National Championship season. He left to become a head coach and then returned in 2006. He is credited with modernizing the offense and re-installing discipline and toughness. (This sounds familiar)

*New Michigan Coach Rich Rodriguez doesn't run the I Pro Multiple.

On Adams: UT needs coordinator with offense on his mind

Just something to consider, Trooper Taylor going to Baylor might be a good career move for him. Even though he would have the title of Offensive Coordinator, he will not call plays. Baylor coach Art Briles has a unique offensive system that he developed himself. He calls the plays. But, it will give Coach Taylor a chance to learn a variation of the Spread Passing offense, add to recruiting contacts and make himself more marketable for a possible head coaching position in the future.
