Written on State's Top 10 prospects: (No. 8) Alcoa's Robinson can't wait on Vols forever:

in response to MrBamSeydu:

I'll say it again..... EAST TN FOOTBALL SUCK!!!! I could care less if he wants to go to UT or if he's a "hometown boy". Lane Kiffin wants the best players in the nation, not the best players in Alcoa. Give me a break. He needs to shut up and go to Tennessee State where he can get some playing time.

Are you kidding me....We all know that E.Tenn is not a hotbed for D-1 talent, but you can't fault the boy for wanting to play for his hometown team. It was all of our dreams to play for the BIG Orange, he just happens to be good enough to garner attention. Lay off the kid.

Written on For Sydney: Gran's biggest recruit was daughter:

What a great article. The players and other coaches are really blessed to have a coach like Coach Gran along their side. The story is a sad one, but it also is a story of Faith, and you can never go wrong with that. Here's to having a long, successful coaching career here at UT, Coach Gran.

Written on Kiffin says UT needs to get a quarterback:

I think CLK needs to swallow his pride and offer the cousin. The haters will have a time with this one though. It seems CLK is going through a serious learning curve, but at least he has the support of the fans, for now anyways. Way too many fairweathers here, but hey, it's home. GO VOLS!

Written on One for two: Kiffin, Pearl differ on recruiting strategy:

in response to OrangeMandM:

(From Scout.com)

Lakewood High School is the home of two of the top players in the Golden State, four star quarterback Jesse Scroggins and three star defensive back Dion Bailey. Both Bailey and Scroggins has offers from the Volunteers and it appears both will take unofficial visits to Rocky Top. Go inside to see what Bailey has to say about UT.

College football coaches have highlighted Lakewood California on their maps this recruiting season and for good reason.

Lane Kiffin is no exception, he is relying on an area he is very familiar with in his efforts of rebuilding the football fortunes at the University of Tennessee.

Lakewood High School is the home of two of the top players in the Golden State, four star quarterback Jesse Scroggins and three star defensive back Dion Bailey.

Both Bailey and Scroggins has offers from the Volunteers and it appears both will take unofficial visits to Rocky Top.

“Yes sir I’m going down there the first week in August,” Bailey told InsideTennessee.com Friday. “Jesse took a trip there last week and really loved it a lot there, we are great friends and it would be great for us to play at the same college.”

Bailey currently holds 19 official offers, including one from Southern California. Both Bailey and Scroggins attended the Trojans camp this week.

“I thought I did well,” Bailey explained. “Jesse had a great camp, he got an offer from USC.”

Did either of the two make a commitment to USC?

“No sir, neither of us have made a decision yet,” Bailey said. “I know Jesse really loved his trip to Tennessee, all the great things he has told me about it, makes me want to see it that much more.”

Bailey also is impressed by how hard he is being recruiting by the Tennessee coaching staff.

“They are really recruiting me harder than most schools,” Bailey said. “I have really been impressed with their coaching staff.”

Bailey has heard a lot about how crazy the football atmosphere can be in the SEC.

“Jesse said that the stadium was incredible and that everyone really gets into their

Wouldn't it be nice...Sounds like Scroggins was really impressed. Maybe CLK can ride the California pipeline and get these two studs in here.

Get well soon, Gerald.

Written on ESPN may have caught Kiffin in another secondary violation; Raiders take another shot at ex-coach:

CLEARLY a ploy by espn... plain and simple. But hey, who cares. If they wanna show just how sorry they are, let 'em. CLK knows what he is doing, and it want be long till the rest of the SEC understands.

Written on Prince to have shoulder surgery:

in response to longball:

I wish I was. Granted, he had some quality games and beautiful passes but those we few and wayyy too far between. He did more hurt than help. That's why I said he stunk 75% of the time and not 100%. I was being nice. Playmaking ability head and shoulders above everyone else? You're the one that must be kidding!

From UTsports.com...2008-09 (Junior)
Missed three games due to injury but started 23 of the 31 games in which he played ... Led the team in field-goal percentage (.572) and steals (47) ... Shot 63 percent on 2-pointers (124-198) as he was extremely active around the rim ... Had a team-high 30 dunks ... Ranked third on the squad with 9.9 points per game, while his 20 blocked shots tied for second on the team ... Led the Vols in assists 11 times and dished out 97 assists on the season ... Ranked eighth in the SEC in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5), ninth in steals (1.5) and 12th in assists (3.1) ... In SEC play, his 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio was the best in the conference and his 3.7 assists per game ranked sixth in the league ... Now who's kidding who???

Written on Prince to have shoulder surgery:

in response to longball:

No, he will continue to shoot terribly. His whole game will most likely continue to hurt our team like it did for at least 75% of the time he played last year.

You must be kidding...JP is a little too much about "me", but he is by far the most talented player on the team. His ability to create plays is head and shoulders above anyone else on last years team. Sometimes he just plays a little out of control.

Written on Orange and White Game a good showing by design :

Any word on Ben Martin?? He got hurt on the 1rst play, and finally left the field on crutches?

Written on Kiffin stays close to offense (in huddle) :

Written on Depth chart taking shape for Vols:

The University of Tennessee announced Thursday that ticket distribution for Saturday's Dish Network Orange and White Game has surpassed the 30,000 mark, making it the largest pre-sale in school history and setting the stage for the 2009 game to be UT's second largest spring game crowd.

The Vols all-time record spring mark of 73,801 was set in 1986. Since that time, the next largest crowds have been 31,500 in 1988 and 28,898 last year. With a record pre-sale and clear weather predicted for Saturday, those marks seem in jeopardy of being surpassed.

I guess a little research would've helped...but then again I like talking to myself.

Written on Depth chart taking shape for Vols:

Anyone know why Hubbs is saying this will be the 3rd highest attended O&W game? I figured higher I guess.

Written on Watson scores career-high 38:

Awesome job, CJ. You're one of my all-time favorite Vols. I will NEVER forget the time you elbowed the shat out of Joakim Noah and sent him to the bench for the rest of the game.

Written on Langley no longer on team:

Volquest.com’s John Brice has just reported that Tennessee’s already-thin defensive line just got a lot thinner. Senior defensive lineman Wes Brown will miss the rest of the spring with a knee injury and will have surgery almost immediately.

Written on Kiffin looks for QB improvement in scrimmage:

Volquest.com’s John Brice has just reported that Tennessee’s already-thin defensive line just got a lot thinner. Senior defensive lineman Wes Brown will miss the rest of the spring with a knee injury and will have surgery almost immediately.

Written on Radio interview: Kiffin outspoken by design:

Coach Kiff is cool. Gotta love the discipline, it's gotta translate to better play on the field.

Written on Kiffin: 'A really horrendous day' for QBs :

Is the practice today open to the public?

Written on Scrimmage statistics from Saturday:

For the Vol offense, any enthusiasm from its work on the scrimmage field Saturday afternoon was tempered thanks to the turnover bug that has been too rampant this week. In short-yardage and clock-management work on Tuesday, the Vol backfield lost two fumbles. On Thursday, the quarterbacks threw a couple of interceptions. Saturday, two fumbles lost and an interception stole the headlines for the offense.....from Volquest.

Written on Pearl's restructured deal likely to start under $2M :

Thanks for the loyalty, CBP. We are thankful to have such a coach. And another thing, thanks for making UT Hoops relevant again. GO VOLS!!
