No? Do you recall how Bama is the most penalized football program in NCAA history? And that Bama fans are notorious for their criminal activity on other fans and their property?

Can you say Logan Young or Harvey Updyke?

You left out Brian Downing.

Live in TN. Read Sentinel. Didn't know time of day one reads a paper mattered! Apparently it bothers you. Repeat, you must be jealous. Article was about A&M, not Alabama, so here's my question: What does Alabama have to do with the article and why does it bother you!!!

Don't you mean envious not jealous? Jealousy is an emotion dealing more with romance and human beings. Envious and jealous are not necessarily interchangeable.

Written on Vols tight end Mychal Rivera drafted by Oakland Raiders:

in response to lavette12389:

Correction: Maybe you didn't know but I believe it was quite obvious to most of us.

Da'Rick's self centered-ness got him booted from UT so there's one flag easily noted. Bray didn't do his football homework so why should he get his 'degree in football' to go play in the NFL?

Both these young men will probably make a team and at least for Rogers I think he'll be a starter for that matter one day. I hope they take this lesson and learn and not think it's 32 other teams' fault. They are Vols and wish them the best.

I knew the obvious like most of us but re-read my post. I said there must be something ELSE we don't know about these two.

You didn't expect him to wipe that on his suit did you?

Sooo, has any of you top scoop media types found out the real reason Jay Graham left his alma mater after he was counter-offered.....you don't leave your alma mater when you have been salary matched....unless of course there are other reasons.

It hasn't been established that he was salary matched in this article, only that he was offered a raise and didn't accept it. Graham’s salary or title on Jimbo Fisher’s staff at Florida State has not yet been announced.

Tennessee has no state income tax as well.

Minor mistake? Second degree robbery is robbery by force and carries a 15 yr sentence in some states upon conviction.

Written on Trent Taylor, who was dismissed by UT, arrested on drug charge :

in response to Rookie2:

The article said schedule VI. Weed is schedule II. I think schedule VI is like anitbiotics and ibuprofin. Maybe he got caught with a case of Flintstone vitamins with the intent to distribute to the neighborhood kids. It's considered a gateway to worse things like lima beans and gabage balls.

Nope. Weed isn't even close to being Schedule II. Weed and any derivative or synthetic form containing the active ingredient tetrahydrocannabinol is Schedule VI. Schedule VI has the shortest list of controlled substances. Schedule II is some opiates and coca plant derivatives.

I so happy our readers are familair with a 'Schedule VI Controlled Substance" as nowhere in the article did I see where it mention what type of drug it was. Maybe he was hanging out with that other Bob Marley wanna be from Florida...Richardson.

Schedule VI in Tennessee is marijuana or any tetrahydrocannabinol, the active ingredient in marijuana.

in response to tovolny:

HEY, WAIT, HOLD YOUR HORSES. It just occurred to me that UT has never had a UT graduate as Athletic Director. Hart, Hamilton, Dickey, Woodruff, and some other guy who's last name started with an "N." Beyond that, I don't know. UNIVERSITIES DON'T NEED ATHLETIC DIRECTORS. The head coaches should report directly to the President. The President should have an "Athletic Committee" composed of the other sport's head coaches and a couple of financial hot shots from the big, leather and wood offices. NO SCHOOL needs ATHLETIC DIRECTORS. Remember, the position was created so that a good head coach could be paid more money without the president being run out of town. AD's are like mammary glands on a boar hog...they can be sucked, but nothing much comes out of it.

Woodruff graduated from Tennessee in 1939.

Written on Vols' Jones 'comfortable' for recruits:

in response to volaholic45:

The 'cruits had dang well better be comfortable with Jones. Right now we're looking up at everybody but Kentucky, including Peabody!

While Vandy is doing well, the school is ahead partly because of sheer numbers contributing to its ranking, 22 vs 14 or whatever UT has that changes everyday, and last time I looked UT has more 4 stars than Vandy. What Vandy has is good enough to beat UT right now but still not good enough to be much more than mid tier SEC East talent and isn't enough to win big like Bama, UF, UGA or even USCe. Also note the numbers some other SEC schools have committed to them with some like UGA and Tx A&M having 30 or MORE.
Quoting Sophocles, one must wait until the evening to say how splendid the day has been, with NSD being the day Vol fans await with bated breath.

Agreed. I think it's good CBJ is an adept at social media. It's a great way to keep up with today's football recruits.

Written on Chaney joins Arkansas as offensive coordinator:

Written on Tee Martin turns down Tennessee homecoming, will stay at Southern Cal :

Personally I'm going to bed in a few minutes, and might lose exactly 15 seconds of sleep due to Tee Martin turning down an offer of position coach at UT. I am totally indifferent with this situation.

Written on Butch Jones' staff taking shape; Tee Martin reportedly has offer :

in response to twin942:

I love the Coach Jones hire but the Auburn d coaches don't thrill me. Auburn had the 82nd ranked defense last year and Martinez was terrible at Georgia as DC. I hope CBJ knows what he's doing....

I looked at NCAA statistics and Auburn's TOTAL defense ranking was 65th, about 40 places better than UT. Auburn held the mighty Commodores to 17 points, about 24 better than UT.

Written on Butch Jones' staff taking shape; Tee Martin reportedly has offer :

in response to Big_House_of_Ice_Gulp:

I like the hires so far, that is if Tee comes home. Thigpen is mentioned on some websites as one of the top recruters among assistant coaches in the country. I am trusting CBJ has knowledge that he will not be found to be involved in the Auburn recruiting investigation. Martinez had such a strong reputation as a DB coach at UGA that he was promoted to DC just to keep him there. This trio along with Graham gives UT a solid core of recruiters.
Word in Nashville is CBJ in town today to talk to Jalen Ramsey and Corn Elder, two highly regarded backs that would be awesome gets for the new staff. Best of luck coach.

GBO!

Martinez was fired as DC at UGA. He went to Oklahoma, then one season this year at Auburn. Said to be a good position coach but in over his head as a coordinator, like Sal Sunseri.

Written on Butch Jones' staff taking shape; Tee Martin reportedly has offer :

This guy promised the best staff in the country. Starting out with tommy thigpen and willie martinez, you are putting together the best 'worst' coaching staff in the country. Maybe I misheard him during the press conference....There are great coaches out there BJ, don't just grab your friends.

Umm...why would we be picking up defensive assistants from Chizik's staff. Auburn had the only other D as bad as ours last year!!!! Geesh.

At least Auburn held Vandy to 17 points, something Sunseri's coaching didn't do. Actually statistically Auburn was 9th in the SEC, compared to UT being 14th, dead last.

Written on Butch Jones' staff taking shape; Tee Martin reportedly has offer :

I didn't know you can coach speed either, but Google it. You might be surprised.

Written on Butch Jones' staff taking shape; Tee Martin reportedly has offer :

in response to Pullingguard:

Why not? Got any specifics..

Martinez was Richt's DC at UGA and was fired after the 2009 season. Rumor is, as DB coach, he was talked into leaving Oklahoma after the '11 season so Bob Stoops could retain the honor of never having fired an assistant coach. He was at Auburn this year. Some say he will be fine as long as he isn't a DC, in the manner Sal Sunseri might have been a good linebacker coach but not DC material.

Written on Butch Jones' staff taking shape; Tee Martin reportedly has offer :

Willie Martinez? Not sure this is a good hire.

Written on Players, recruits respond to hiring :

I've read that he runs a pro-style, up-tempo, no-huddle offense, with a lot of West Coast style short passes. That should be a pretty easy transition for our guys.

That's what I read too, however, he likes a mobile QB so it might mean goodbye from Tyler Bray in April. Last time Tennessee won big they had a mobile QB named Tee Martin.

Written on Vanderbilt gives coach James Franklin new contract:

in response to ProfessionalHandicapper:

You sir are an idiot. The Vandy receievers who led the SEC for most of the year were Soph's. Yes Rodgers and Stacy will be gone but Kimbrough ran several long TD's as a true frosh. The young OL and a small defensive line will be back plus the secondary will be intact. Jealousy is a terrible thing. Now tell me how any coach will fix that HORRIBLE Ut defense and the worst secondary to ever walk on an SEC field? Franklin played UT to overtime in Knoxville and crushed UT in Nashville. Vandy is "The University of Tennesee" and the only school with a Bowl Bid. Bottom dweller and excuse "U" sits home.

I believe the proper word here is envy, not jealousy. The words stand for two distinct emotions. Hubris and arrogance are both terrible things too.
