haha I like that, man. so what are some of your favorite moments from all those games you've been to?
in response to tnsportsman: Our group would go to any UT Bowl Game, I haven't missed a bowl game in 38 years and only 5 home games in that same time. IMO, the Music Bowl is MUCH better than the Gator because of the great PR, Recruiting and Marketing UT & Nashville will do. I also live in Nashville and they are PUMPED to have Tennessee for the first time! Be great for the Middle Tennessee economy to the tune of 30 million! GO VOLS, WE ARE UT!

I am lovin your posts, man. that's awesome that you've been to all those games!
in response to tnsportsman: Totally agree volsbandit. I'm on the sports council here in Music City and all the non-bcs bowls want teams within 400 miles due to the bad economy. OUR VOLS need to play at the Music City for the first time in the middle of Tennessee! Most rooms here are already sold out, only upper deck tickets on the MCB site, tickets on Stubhub and CL are now 240 for club seats instead of the original 80. Parties are planned everywhere by the VolNation! The Music City picks before Liberty and Birmingham and WILL select OUR VOLS if on the board. The Gator Bowl would be crazy not to take the Swamp Lizzards if they want a sell out. Everyone come on over to Music City, its party time '2nd Avenue Style' on the 29th and 30th! Then a Victory NYE Party! GO VOLS, WE ARE UT!

haha. I think I would only feel like doing that after beating Florida or Alabama.
in response to TennVolAlum: Bama...agreed. FL and UGA...agreed.--mainly b/c the games with these two decide (for the most part) who goes to the SEC Champ Game. My main point was, that with so many "rivals", it kind of waters down the term "rivalry". But, I guess that's why the SEC is the best conference...so many teams that are competitive each year for a chance at the SEC title. Not like the Pac-10, where it's USC every year, or the Big-10+1 where it's OSU every year. As for the ACC and Big East...they just stink.

I see what you mean. I think the reason some people consider the Vandy and Kentucky games "rivalries" is because of the history and "tradition" associated with it... we've been playin those guys forever (Vandy since 1892 and Kentucky since 1893). not to mention those series used to be somewhat competitive, albeit many, many years ago.
the Georgia game is also unique in that it's really big for recruiting, by the way.
in response to TennVolAlum: Topic for discussion: How many rivals can one team have? I've heard folks on all sorts of media saying that FL, UGA, BAMA, Vandy, and even sometimes KY are "rivals" for the University of Tennessee. Thoughts?

Alabama is definitely our biggest rival, and always will be, in my mind. Then after that you have Florida and Georgia.
and we still have Toney Williams, too. why does no one ever talk about him?
I think Florida, Georgia, and Alabama are our three main rivals. Vandy and Kentucky are like our little brothers that we beat up on every year.

I just miss being Tennessee again. Don't get me wrong, I completely and fully back Coach Dooley 100%, and am glad to have him here. But Fulmer WAS Tennessee. He's the only coach I had known before the other guy showed up. And I'm just worried that we're going to go away from what Tennessee is. I don't think that we will, but I'm always worried about it now that he's gone. Say what you will about him, and yes, I have reservations about him too, but you have to admit that Coach Fulmer loved this university and let Tennessee be Tennessee.
I miss Phillip Fulmer.
in response to d_ray: This way we get a young and upcoming head coach with intelligence and we keep Kippy too. No way Hamilton is going to let Kippy be replaced. If Coach Dooley is the new hire, we need to give him 100% of our fan base support and make his life here better than we made Kiffin's first impression. Kiffin never felt comfortable here because we the fans never let him feel good about being here. He went home first chance he got. So...again...let's give the new coach, who ever he is...a great UT welcome and support him and make him a winner. Fan support wins games.

Dude, what are you talking about? We "never let him feel good about being here?" yeah, I guess you're right. we just gave him 100% of our support and love as fans of the University of Tennessee! how in the world can you say that we didn't make him feel welcome?! Kiffin's departure is NOT our fault as fans. it's Kiffin's lack of character and ethics that's to blame.
This makes no sense. The polls are based on what the team has done on the field. On their on-the-field performance. You can't drop a team just because of some stupid off-the-field incident. That has nothing to do with how the team has performed or their talent, which is what the polls are about in the first freakin' place.

Actually, EB had 83 tacklesthis year, more than his 72 last year. And yes, he had less interceptions, because of how they were using him. As for Jonathan Crompton, sure, he really couldn't have played much worse than last year. But he showed drastic improvement. Drastic. Finished second in the SEC for most touchdown passes, and also decreases his INT numbers significantly as the season went on. It takes great coaching to be able to do that.

what the frick are you talking about "a school that does not win them?" For your information, SIR, the great University of Tennessee has SIX national championships to its credit. Tha sure is a lot for a school that "does not win them."
Eric Berry, thank you so much for all your years as a VOL and for showing us all what a true VOL is. You are the definition, the epitome, of a real Tennessee Volunteer. Thank you so much for your hard work and great play over the years. You will be missed sorely. I wish you could stay one more year, but you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess. GO VOLS and GO ERIC BERRY!

This is so stupid, and horrible. We were getting a bunch of momentum right now. They messed up that and they messed up their lives. They could've been NFL players, if not stars.

in response to 10volunteers98: So,what do all you die-hard Fulmer fans have to say now?If Fulmer and crew had of still been around,I would venture to guess that the Vols would have struggled last night. We`re finally seeing the Vols beat the teams they`re supposed to beat, instead of making the other teams look good. No,we`re not quite out of the woods yet.But the difference in this (FIRST-YEAR) Kiffin team and last year`s team is like night and day.Good times are close for the Vols and Vol fans.Congratulations to Nukeese on his first touchdown catch. And man,Luke Stocker is another Jason Witten!Keep winning,Vols and get a good bowl game.I have a feeling this next recruiting class is going to be a monster class!GO,VOLS!!!
