First, with regard to Jurick, I trust Bruce Pearl. Pearl said Chism was better than Pierre Niles (when many had Niles ahead of Chism), then he said Williams was a keeper, and so far he has been right on both counts. If he wants Jurick, I trust him.
Second, Jurick is no John Snodgrass. I saw Snodgrass too. Jurick would have been the biggest player on UT's team the last two years with the exception of Williams. He has had a college body for at least the last two years. He can run the court (even if he sometimes chooses not to do so), he can block shots and rebound big-time. He is a project offensively, but Pearl and company know that.
Did I say I trust Pearl?

V-Vol,
I assume you know that "venomous" equates to "poisonous," "spiteful," "malignant?" That's what fans like you are -- poisonous. Why don't you take your venom and go poison some other site?

What's going on at MSU? Is Stansbury hard to play for? The Delk twins left last year after two years and now Hansbrough is leaving after two years. Maybe these kids think it is a JUCO! JK.
Seriously, it seems like something is wrong.

With all due respect, it is probably a little easier to take a banner off a fence than it is to remove one from the rafters of TBA. Pearl would need a loooooong ladder to make that point! LOL! My guess would be that Coach Weekly got his point across and that it was well taken by the ladies.

As a Red Bank fan and Vol fan I was not thrilled when Victor followed his childhood friend, Galloway, to Bama to play. But Vic's amiable spirit made his decision a little easier to take.
He is one of the better players to don the blue and white of Red Bank and he will be sorely missed. He will be inducted into the Red Bank High School hall of fame (not for athletics only) on April 25. I think there are also plans in the works to retire his #9 Red Bank jersey.
Pray for his family and friends. And take a moment to communicate your affection and appreciation to someone you love.

Isn't Bama's coach named MARK Gottfried? I don't really care and I don't think most Bama fans do either when it comes to basketball, I was just wanting to clarify!

I, too, saw the game at Alabama when the Pistol scored 69. Unfortunately, his team lost in overtime (106-104, I think) to a talented Bama squad. He was truly unbelievable. How good could he have been had he been wholly healthy (the heart defect that killed him was congenital) and had he kept his life clean like he did his last few years?
He was my hero as a kid and became a greater hero to me for the way he ultimately turned his life around. BTW, the Maravich book that came out a couple of years ago (can't remember who wrote it) is also an interesting read for Pistol fans.
Another BTW: Tennessee (and other teams) typically held the ball (no shot clock back then) to keep Pistol's point totals down. Nobody could really "hold him" to 17 points one on one.

I have also seen Jurick play several times and he has some stuff you just can't coach. For instance, he has a college body right now. He would have been the biggest player on UT's team this season with the possible exception of Brian Williams. He can also run the court. I saw him follow up a steal by a guard at half-court (he was in the paint) with a dunk at the offensive end on a fast break. Coach Pearl was there that night and I realized why he was recruiting Jurick. He is not a very polished offensive player, but he can run the court, rebound, defend and block shots -- and he is every bit of 6'10", maybe bigger. I think we could use one of those! As to his academics, I have no idea.

Majors lost the Heisman to Paul Hornung, I think. Notre Dame had a 2-9 record that year (or something like that). Some guy from Oklahoma should have actually been the winner that year and finished third in the voting. I'm sure somebody can complete the details...
