In more positive news, TitleTown put another trophy in its overloaded National Championship Case when the Gators Gymnastics Team won on Saturday in LA.

There are only 5 schools in the country who have won this title, 3-from the SEC. UF, bammer and ga. The others are Utah and ucla.

I know you all will send your congratulations to UF for another fine accomplishment.

Of course, there are only 5 schools that compete in gymnastics. Not even the people in Gainesville care about this.

Mike Hamilton consolidated his power when he was named AD. He swept out most people with UT backgrounds. He fired or forced the retirement of almost everyone with a longer tenure at UT than himself.

With Phil Fulmer's retirement in the not too distant future, and the Fulmer's next stop appearing to be as the next UT athletic director, he gave Phil a nice raise just before a humiliating dismissal in the middle of the season. I suppose that softened the blow for Coach Fulmer, but it's evident that the wrong man left the UT athletic department.

I was told by a lifetime staffer (since forced into retirement) about six years ago that Hamilton was running UT down a shaky financial road. He said we would pay the piper about now. It turned out to be true.

Regardless of where our debt load might be in relation to other SEC schools, the athletic department was run with quiet recklessness during the Hamilton administration. The proof is in the bottom line.

Mike Hamilton is in Africa and is hopefully doing good things there.

I don't know how far that is from Knoxville, but I like the idea that he's in Africa and not on the UT campus.

I think Fulmer would take just about anything. I'm not a fan of this guy. I want him to go away. He had a nice run in the 90's no doubt. All the credit in the world there. Bray has got to show he is a complete quarterback, which he hasn't done yet. While I freely admit he has all of the physical tools, he hasn't shown he can handle the mental side of the position. When Simms was in, our running game consistently gained more yards because he knew the offense and checked into the right play to take advantage of the defense he was facing. Bray hasn't done that.

While the offensive line and running backs have to shoulder the majority of the blame for the abysmal running game, the quarterback has more than a little to contribute to it also.

I hope the lights have turned on for him otherwise it will be a better season, but not the level it could be.

If the QB has to audible that much, the coaches aren't calling the right plays.

I am going to go all of one better and say UT men's hoops will NEVER be better than mediocre with CCM. UT football will NEVER be better than mediocre with CDD. Now that is nothing against those two guys, I'm sure they work hard and have good intentions. However, the main reasons for my assessment are: John Calipari and Nick Saban,et al. As long as guys like that are around, sucking up most of the talent and flat out-coaching the rest, everyone else is playing for second, Tennessee included. Is there someone out there better than those guys,probably, but we won't get them, not until the powers that be are dedicated, Tennessee Vol people. After Hamilton's gutting of our athletic department, we just don't have that right now. That's my two cents.
