Immature fans to trash a former player that already has a job in one of the top five programs in the United States. Why would any Vol wanna coach at a University that fired Majors, Fulmer,Chavis,Sanders and Chuck Smith, all so called VOLS FOR LIFE. Plus listen how fans call Fulmer Fat, Chavis third and Chavis, and bash sanders and trashed Smith when Dooley sent him packing. Nobody in their right mind wants to be in Knoxville. Its a coaching graveyard. SLAP in the face by Tee just like Gerald Jones telling a recruit to chose Auburn.

Well, go right ahead and do your booing.

Written on Tennessee fires Derek Dooley:

in response to UT_Braddah:

Okay all of you classless, immature brats, go ahead and let us know what candidates you will find acceptable, so that the University can make sure you're happy with the hire. Because God knows, if you disagree with the hire the "culture of negativity" will only continue. Because, of course, you know exactly who should and should not coach this team.

I love Dooley, and know he's a good man. But I agree he had to go. But some of you bums show absolutely no class or compassion for a GOOD MAN who took the job that none of your dream coaches would take, gave it his all, suffered some of the worst luck and toughest schedule imaginable, and demonstrated true character that you LACK and will never have.

YOU have damaged this program with your classless negativity. What coach with other job opportunities would come here? What players with other opportunities will come here?

My rant ain't about Dooley...he needed to go. I think he'll spend a few years as an assistant and then reemerge as a very attractive HC candidate.

My post is about YOU...bunch of weak, classless, heartless, whining, ungrateful, unrealistic, spoiled, know-it-all, quitters.

I had just about quit posting the last two years as there has been such as you say classless, heartless, ungrateful whining from know-it-all (this is mine)@$$holes who probably have never step foot into the stadium for a UT home game. Me--been going almost 50 years, from my freshman year at UT.
Yet they know so damm much about what needs to be done and will probably be the same way with the new coach.

A very good post by you and IMO very insightful.
Thanks

Good luck, Coach Dooley in whatever path of life you take.

Written on NCAA hits Vols football with additional penalties; tied to Willie Mack Garza:

in response to LiveToRide:

And what penalty does Garza get for his lying and violation of the rules? Isn't he coaching at TCU? It's high time the joke that is the NCAA started coming down on the cheaters themselves and stop punishing the fans and student athletes that are being punished AFTER THE FACT. You hit the cheating coaches and this will stop. As it stands, they can pretty much continue with the status quo and it's the school that gets punished. They just pick up and set up shop somewhere else like nothing happened. Why not a 3 year show cause for Garza like Pearl received?

Third paragraph of the article:

The committee said Garza was guilty of “unethical conduct” and slapped him with a three-year “show-cause” order that severely limits his ability to find another job at an NCAA school.

Yes, even being a Kentucky fan you still would've gotten free tickets (or $5 each max). You must've been that one guy sitting there by himself as seconds ticked away while Vandy was waxing that a** 40-0. haha! YOU PAID $80! Haha! I still can't get over that! Doug Dickey was a good AD and he was a FL man, he left for FL the day after TN -who was at the time coached by Dickey-lost to FL in the Gator Bowl. I was at that game.

We don't necessarily need a TN man, what we need is someone who will do the job that they are paid to do.

That goes for anyone at UT - particularly the personnel for football.

Yup ... ya'll want it all ... and you would still find something to whine and complain about. in response to pcorange:

There may have been 89,000 tickets given out, but I can assure you there weren't 89,000 in the stands. 60,000 tops. People who are holding season tickets right now who have stopped attending games are going to eventually quit buying season tickets, at that point the "announced" attendance will start coming more in line with reality.

I would say that it might have been 60-65K at the beginning of the game--the student sections started filling up by the middle to end of first quarter. All must have slept in-it was an early game. By the second quarter I would say around 75K would be about right.

Our section on the west side was full, fuller than the last two games.

One thing can be said about Mizzou fans, they are loyal. They bought all allotted tickets and a lot in TN sections also. They followed their team over 600 miles. Would or do you 'fans' do this?

I am always for my team--THE VOLS-- and am always hoping they win the game. They played very well against top teams. I don't know what has happened to the defense...really sad.

I am there for all the home games, and as many of the 'away' games that are not too far away...

Why don't all you 'know what to do' former ADs --you are former ADs since all of you know *exactly* what to do--just go to Cheek and tell him you want Hart's job, since you are so much more knowledgeable and smarter than Hart.

I'm sure that Cheek will take all your names, put them in a hat, and then pull out the name of the new AD.

This would be the only way that is fair. All of you are so 'in the know' about what needs to be done, so have at it smartasses -- go tell Cheek you're way, way better than Hart and you want the job.

No it won't make it better. It could, though, give the players a little more confidence in themselves and their team; and maybe pave the way for more positive playing next year. These last few years have been horrible and unsettling for our players. Winning out will help some, imo.

I'm hoping all the juniors will return next year as well as CDD. If next season is as bad as this, then it's time for a change. Let CDD have next year, and if it doesn't work out, then a new coach will be essentially starting over as next years seniors will be gone. With the rest of the season and spring and fall practice our defense should have the 3-4 down.
And, I think we will win against the top teams as well as the cupcakes.

Just my opinion...

Why was Meyer picked over Gruden at Ohio State?

Gruden stated he wanted to coach at the end of 2011 season. What happened to all the rumors he was going to San Diego or St Louis? He went to neither.

His only good season came from the hard work of Dungy.

Gruden is known to want only experienced players. He is lazy, won't work to get signees.

Written on UT coach Derek Dooley going to new heights for victory over ranked team :

SEC teams consisting primarily of frosh and sophs do not beat the UAs, UFs, LSUs, USCs of the world. That is reality and that is what the Vol football team was the last two years. This year the team has more experience and some depth. Wait until the end of the season before writing them off.

I'd more or less say we have to wait til about midnight tonight. Yes, our team is no long freshman and sophs...they are now juniors and should be able to win some big games - that is the reality. So far we have lost to GA and FL. If we lose tonight, I don't think we'll have a snowball's chance in heII of winning against AL and SC. That leaves what?
Troy, Mizzou, Vandy, & KY...can TN even win these last 4?

Written on Five key points five games into the Tennessee football season :

I didn't say anywhere that UT is close to being a real #3 team. I said, very clearly, that anybody (troll) who says the Vols' beatdown of NC State in week 1 doesn't qualify as a quality win over a quality opponent is a total dumb@ss. NC State is 3-1 in their other four games, with a win over the #3 team in the country. That is a quality opponent, therefore beating them is a quality win over a good team.

Georgia and Florida were quality opponents. Why did we not have a quality win over either one of these quality opponents?

In my opinion, Mississippi State, Alabama, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt are quality opponents. Missouri could possibly be another quality opponent. Think we'll have a quality win over any of these?

Evidently Kentucky was a quality opponent last year...how about this year?

Written on Five key points five games into the Tennessee football season :

in response to TheVolSnake:

I would like Toddy boy explain how we would be competing for an SEC championship that he keeps claiming, if he was the coach.

Two years ago when Dooley took over, was down by 30+ scholarship players, had a O. Line that had 3 starts combined, the real reason had limited success the first year was we still have some star players that were seniors.

Over the last two years have played more Freshman than any other team, have a lack of depth across the board and injuries to key players combined with the lack of depth, killed us latter in the year.

This year our Offense has been for the most part great, our defense has some issues. Now not an excuse but a fact everyone knew the switch from the 4-3 to the 3-4 would take some time, I thought it would be better than it is right now, but I am not sure that if we stayed with the 4-3 would be any better. We have some great players but the issue is them being out of position and tackling in the back field. Both these issues could still be present in the 4-3.

This year we have several players that are in the top tier SEC listed below:

Here are the Vols ranked in SEC Friday 5 Oct 2012:

Bray: 6th in QB ranking, 1st in Total yards, 1st in completions, 1st in TD passes, 8th total yards nationally.

Neal: 1st in rushing attempts, 2nd in total rushing yards

Hunter: 1st in number of receptions, 2nd in total yards

CP: 8th in receiving yards, 28th in rushing yards (on 8 Carries), 6th in Kickoff return yards

Morre: Tied for 1st in interceptions, 2nd interceptions return yards

O. Line given up the least amount of sacks in the SEC

80 + yards per game more than last year rushing.

Source: http://espn.go.com/college-football/c...

Now Toddy Boy explain how you would have had them in the SEC championship this year. I know you will come back with coaching change but the question is how would you do better.

Also something that needs to be considered is a coaching change means players and recruits will more than likely leave regardless of you is selected. (other than probably Saban)

Now I am not happy with the record this year or last year but I know what we have and what has happened, we will still finish with 8-4 or better this year and have been improving weekly.

Go Vols

So, we're gonna be 8-4?

What 8 teams are we gonna beat?

What 4 teams are gonna beat us?

Only confident win I see right now is Troy!

BTW...I am a Vol, have had season tickets since 1964. I am just getting tired of the Vols losing, and losing, and losing, and losing, and losing, and losing.
