Written on Lane Kiffin, USC strive for drama-free 2013:

Why do you keep writing about Kiffin. He's a loser. In the end he will get what's coming to him which is nothing. Lets keep focused on UT and let kiffin go to H in a hand basket.

Written on Tyler Bray's father says NFL draft was 'brutal':

Hope younger players will benefit by Bray's mistake. Analyst are not always correct. Bray hurt himself with his immaturity. He needed one more year of SEC play to show an improvement in maturity and his game. I wish him the best, but he would have put more money in his pocket if he stayed one more year. Hope he finishes college somewhere so he will at least have a degree to fall back on.

Written on Tennesse's Cordarrelle Patterson picked 29th by Vikings:

Tired of listening to all these people that don't think CP is smart enough to play or has the right tools to play. This guy is going to prove a lot of people wrong. As far as people that think Hunter should have gone higher, I don't. Hunter was scared to be back on the field and it showed in a lot of games where he missed some big catches. I hope he improves and does good, but I think CP helped more last year. Someone mentioned CP looked like an S&W waiter last night. Maybe he did, but how many waiters will be making millions of dollars. I'm sure CP is laughing all the way to the bank at a lot of the naysayers out there. Good luck CP and all the other VOLS that will be drafted today.

Written on Season ends for Vols in NIT opener, 75-67:

Thank goodness we have the women's basketball and softball teams, otherwise no one would know there was a college in Knoxville. The men sure can't do anything. Go Lady Vols !!!

Written on The skinny on Joshua Dobbs:

Welcome to "BIG ORANGE COUNTRY"

Written on Mike Strange: Kedren Johnson almost drove Vandy to upset of Vols :

I respect what Kendran's dad did. I did the same for my daughter and I have no regrets where she played ball at. She and myself both are still big UT fans.

Written on Tyler Bray, Justin Hunter, Cordarrelle Patterson, Darrington Sentimore to NFL draft:

That's what happens when you get a money hungry agent advising people wrongly. Patterson is the only one that can come out and make it as an underclassman. The others could really have benefited from another year. Good luck to all and watch your money around these crooked agents.

Written on Ben Bartholomew, Zach Rogers, Prentiss Waggner invited to All-Star Classic :

With the way Rodgers was playing at the end of the season, he could be another Wes Welker in the pros.

Written on Tennessee WR Justin Hunter bound for NFL draft, while Ja'Wuan James says he'll be back :

in response to VFL_Troll_Patrol:

Well, I don't see this as much of a big deal as long as others stay. I say that because as happy for Hunter as I am, I still wasn't impressed by him this season (2012). He had so many dropped passes and ect. I think he is being smart by going into the NFL this year. Im happy for the guy, but I also have a feeling that he was worried that if he didn't leave now, he may not get another shot because of his "not so great but ok" season. Call me crazy I guess but I still feel like its good he is gone and now other players can step up in his place and show what they can do. Bottom line is, I don't see this as being a hurt on UT's 2013 season as long as Bray, Patterson and others stay one more year. GBO

"A new leader" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4xteY...
*Im always watching*

I agree. For all the catches he made, he dropped some very important ones that could have made a big difference in some games. I don't consider him a big loss. Patterson would be a big loss. Hope he stays.

Written on John Adams: Martin homecoming will have to wait :

I suppose Tee enjoys adding coaching with Lane Kiffin to his resume. Nothing like having a bad reputation coach on your resume. As far as him coming back to UT, he burned that bridge. Why would we want an LK prodigy back here. Poor decision Tee.

Written on Tee Martin turns down Tennessee homecoming, will stay at Southern Cal :

in response to TheStupidPolice:

Hire Peerless Price.

Good Idea !!!

Written on Do you believe Butch Jones is the right choice to be UT's coach?:

Sick of all the negativity from UT fans. All this negativity was part of the fault of UT's downfall. Let's get behind Jones and give him a chance. As a retired coach I know how armchair quarterbacks can ruin programs. Go Big Orange and welcome Coach Jones.

Written on New UT coach Butch Jones in Knoxville:

in response to orangecountyvols:

tennrich,

Thanks for a mature outlook.

A word to the fast becoming whiners. Many of you were dreaming..........wanting, even expecting Gruden......which was never to be.

Because of some really weird expectations, others are fuming like little kids. Wanting certain coaches here didn't mean you were ever going to get them. Perhaps some would have preferred to move onward to signing date without a coach at all.

Anyway, if this site is going to predictably be inundated with gripers every day, it's best to just read the columns but ignore the posters, except for people we know who are more inclined to be positive thinkers. Butch isn't going to come in here thinking it will be a walk in the park. He'll want to win, will discover what deficiencies we've had and will work to fix them. Yes, get over the 'gifts you didn't get from Santa' and let's see what happens.

AMEN !!!

Written on New UT coach Butch Jones in Knoxville:

Like my Mom used to say. Don't judge someone until you get to know them. I think this is a good hire. I hope he keeps Jay Graham on his staff. Welcome to Big Orange Country coach.

Written on UT out? Gundy, Strong negotiating to stay at their schools:

in response to 10seVol85_Part_Deux:

You're an idiot. Tennessee is a big time job. Also, Louisville said they would be able to match or beat any offer anybody made him, in order to keep him. Also, nobody said he was offered the UT job.

Would you rather be in the ACC or SEC. No comparison. Would you rather play in front of 90 to 100 thousand fans or 45 to 60 thousand fans. Doesn't seem like a no brainer.

Written on John Adams: With new coach, it may be time for UT to spread its wings on offense :

I surprised no one has mentioned Tony Dungy as a coaching candidate. Wouldn't hurt to approach him. He would be a great morivator of the players. He definately knows the game.

Written on Who should Tennessee go after as its next coach?:

in response to crutch1966:

i agree. i wish tony dungee was looking for a job.

AMEN to that!!! Dungy would be a great college coach with his knowledge of the game and great motivator of young men.

Written on Tough to read Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray when it comes to his NFL plans :

He is not ready for the pros. He needs to mature physically and mentally. Until he can finish a game and not choke, he's not ready. The only person that could leave early is Patterson. Hunter has to make catches in the clutch and so far he hasn't. He lost as many games for us as Bray.

Written on John Adams: If not Jon Gruden, how about Bobby Petrino or Tommy Tuberville? :

in response to VolunTenMile:

Petrino = Kiffin with lower ethical standards. Don't go there, Vols!!!!!

Petrino is a step above pretty boy kiffin.

Written on Stunned No. 20 Lady Vols need to regroup quickly:

Season has only started. Go Lady Vols !!!!

Written on Missouri beats Vols in 4 overtimes, 51-48:

in response to OrangeAndBlueWaffles88:

(This comment was removed by the site staff.)

I'd rather go for it on 4th than to allow Palardy to miss it.

Written on Missouri beats Vols in 4 overtimes, 51-48:

Typical second half for our defense. It has been that way for years. Palardy is no kicker, Hunter is no top pick at WR as it scrolls across the screen every week. The only good players we have are Patterson, offensive line and AJ. I still don't consider Bray a good quarterback he just has a good line. We should not have settled for overtime. Sorry Mr. Dooley, but you may be gone!

Written on What's wrong with Tennessee's defense?:

Should have had lack of player intelligence as a choice!!!! Other teams can handle this type of D, Whyyyyyyyyyyy can't UT players.

Written on Tennessee freshman Daniel Gray struggles in debut :

in response to Orangepuddinskin:

Teague needs to stay in. Gray shouldn't be expected to push a senior out. Too much pressure for this kid, even if it was Troy.

I agree Teague should stay in. As far as too much pressure for Gray I don't agree with. Look at all the freshman starting on teams like Alabama, Oregon and other top notch teams. They are handling it and he can and will handle it.

Written on Final score: Tennessee survives with a 55-48 win over Troy :

What a joke of a game. UT should have killed them. However, in order to do that you have to have that killer instinct. Why do you have a freshman at DB that basically causes 3 scores for Troy. 2 personal fouls then you get your butt beat on a fly route. Was glad that the big sun came to his senses and put Wagner in. What a joke Palardy is. He was supposed to be one of the best kickers coming out of HS and he is one of the worst kickers UT has ever had. I think it all comes down to the fact that UT ball players can't think. I'm tired of everyone saying it's hard for them to catch on to the defense. They've been working with it since last spring. The big problem is they aren't smart enough to grasp it. It's coming down to the fact that it's not all the coaches fault the players just can't play. Maybe Patterson could learn to kick FG. He's the only one doing anything and we are lucky that we have him

Written on Mark Wiedmer: Dooley making Hart's decision much easier:

As a retired coach I have seen it all. Good seasons and bad seasons, but the one thing that hurts a team more is negative thinking. This can be the thing that tears a team apart. I have seen this from the fans at UT from the very beginning of Dooley's hire. What do you think will happen if Dooley is fired and you hire a new coach. The whole thing starts over again and the fans have something else to fuss about. Give the man one more year and lets see what happens. Considering he lost 7 coaches from last year and had to start all over again has put him behind the 8 ball again. I don't know many coaches that have been through the adversities that he has and has handled it the way he has. Who's to say if we hire Gruden if he will do any better! Quit being so negative and get behind the program and let things fall where they will after the season is over, but for right now support UT.

Written on Lattimore goes to hospital with likely knee injury:

Great running back. Look forward to his return. Hope everything is OK.

Written on Mike Strange: Lane Kiffin has moved beyond 'rookie mistakes' at Tennessee :

The best thing we can do as UT fans is not patronize any articles about LK. From now on don't respond to any articles with comments. The past is the past and the future is NOW!!!
GO VOLS!!!

Written on Mickie DeMoss' exit could start makeover :

Bring Tyler Summitt on as an assistant. I've heard he has a great head for the game. He definately had a great mentor.

Written on David Climer: Derek Dooley's future with Tennessee Vols linked to Da'Rick Rogers' antics:

Rogers is at UT for the education and Football. If he can't committ 100% then he needs to leave. With him going to Georgia State maybe he figures he can't hang with the new WR recruit and he has to go somewhere where he thinks he can play.

Written on MTSU ends UT's season, 71-64 :

in response to florida-volfan:

Kinda like our football team this past year HUH? Great finish. UT athletics gone to ****! Dont want to mention baseball the last few years.....where is that vaunted track team from the 80s and 90s? Swim team who knows? Only one worth a damn is lady vols basketball. thumbs up!

Don't Forget Women's softball program has been pretty darn good over the years!

Written on DB Mackensie Alexander decommits, cites Terry Joseph's departure:

Why is Nebraska not listed then?

Good question!

Written on Vols add Josh Conklin to staff as safeties coach:

in response to Blue_Store_Barron:

(This comment was removed by the site staff.)

I haven't heard Buddy Bennett's name since I was in school at ETSU and we beat Terry Bradshaw in the Grantland Rice Bowl. He was one heck of a coach. Bennett's Bandits.

Written on Terry Joseph leaving for Nebraska :

I think Dooley hit it on the head when he said, "The new coaches came in with a new, energetic approach — and they want to be here.”

Good by Mr.Joseph we are probably better off. I look for a lot of better things to happen with this new staff.

Written on Lance Thompson finished tenure at UT not under contract :

Pat him on the back and throw him a bone.

Written on Lance Thompson appears headed back to Alabama:

Good Ridance! Hopefully these new coaches have a clause if they leave early they are penalized. He falls in the same category as Kiffen and all the others who have left early. These players need stability and it shows these ex coaches didn't give a hoot about the program or players. No wonder DD has had problems. He didn't have coaches that had their heart in the program. Hopefully with these new coaches this will change and will not put the program behind again.

Written on Navy's Buddy Green to interview; Harry Hiestand might provide another opening :

I've been a coach for 30 some years and I have never seen a program that didn't slump in some years. Look at ND,Ala,Ucla,Texas. All of these schools rebounded and UT can to. I've always told anyone if they think they can do a better job then they need to step up and take over. The majority of people shut up and let me get back to coaching. Maybe if the majority of cry babies on here would do that then maybe DD can take care of his program.

Written on Justin Wilcox, Peter Sirmon hired by Washington:

Spagnuolo was fired from the Rams as head Coach, but as a defensive coordinator he is one of the best around. Maybe UT should give him a call. If DD doesn't pan out next year you have a man that could step in.

Written on Do you approve of the job Derek Dooley did this season?:

in response to TopTenn:

Pete Carroll

Not another USC person.

Written on The react to Tennessee's loss to Kentucky:

It's not Dooley's fault if the playrs don't want to win. They can't tackle. They don't know how to handle a play around end. Getting a new coach would only put us back in the hole again. Maybe what we need is players that buy into the system. When I see players laughing and smiling on the sidelines they don't have their head in the game. If you don't want to play for UT then go to another school and don't take someone's scholarship that wants to play. Maybe UT should think about getting out of the SEC and into a DIV 1A conference.

Written on UT notebook: Derek Dooley may ditch QB sneak :

It's a shame they didn't bring Simms in earlier I believe he will give us a better chance. Simms played against 2 of the top teams in the country with no support. Da'Rick catches that pass and it's a different game. Use Santana's brother a little more.(Rivera) We also need to look for players with a lot more speed. Watching games on Sat. all the good teams have a lot more speed.

Written on Derek Dooley OK with 'spirited' chatter :

Get off their backs! Not many coaches can come into a situation like Dooley did and be expected to win right away. We played the number one team in the country with a second string as good as most teams in the SEC. We are playing without our #1 QB,WR and others. Dooley has at least taken control of his players off the field which some other coaches didn't. Maybe some of you would rather have Lois Lane back with his mafia coaches. UT will be back. Just give the new AD and Dooley a chance and get off their backs. Let them keep their minds on the game and not have to worry about the useless remarks being made. Oh, by the way Mr. Miles! Good job of running the score up at the last. Just remember what goes around comes around.

Written on What cost the Vols the most in the loss to Florida?:

We need a kicking game! I'm sorry but Palardy has never impressed me especially when we have had some of the best kickers in the country in the past.

Written on Tennessee hires Cuonzo Martin to replace Bruce Pearl as men's basketball coach:

Does he have a father that coaches in the NBA? Spamilton is going to ruin UT.

Written on Ron Higgins: Mike Hamilton's mistakes should cost UT athletic director his job:

Please don't compare Pearl to the Lane idiot. No one should be compared to him not even Satan.

Written on Kippy Brown interviewing today:

Kippy gets my vote. He's all VOL. I can't believe they are even looking at Dooley. Hope he's not like Uncle Bill. He left VPI in a mess years ago.

Written on Poll: Who is your choice for new football coach at Tennessee?:

I'd like to see Bud Foster the defensive coordinator from VPI. He made an idiot out of Kiffin with his defense in the bowl game.

Written on Sources say Orgeron telling UT enrollees not to go to class :

I hope they listen to Mr. Ed and they go to usc and usc gets the death penalty. It would serve them all right. This should be a major Ncaa infraction when a coach tampers with another schools players. This is probably the worst thing I have ever heard of in college football. Lane and usc should be monetarily indebted to UT. No class.

Written on Kiffin hired by Southern Cal: 'I really believe this is the only place I would have left to go':

What a lack of class! Hamilton should be fired for letting him have a contract with a clause in it to allow him to leave after a year. Thought Monte would have taught his son something about loyalty. This really put us in a bad fix. I wonder how many recruits he will take with him.
Good luck lane, monte and ed I hope you fall flat on your face and USC is on probation for the next 2 years when lane will leave again. Hope usc gets their money's worth when they buy butthead out.

Written on UT commitment Calvin Smith will represent the junior national team:

6 foot 4 and 265 may not seem big, but there are a lot of defensive linemen in the NFL around this size and they get by. Dwight Freeney is 6 foot 1 and weighs 268 and he can run down a lot of running backs.
