If a recruit comes in and talks about going pro then he is labeled an ego problem and a cancer in the locker room. Somebody that is not out for the good of the program (see Kelly Washington).
Then if we have a recruit that comes in saying that there is a life after football and he wants to make sure his education is in order...he is not focused on becomming the best player he can be.
Which one is it guys...come on. This is a great kid and an outstanding football player. I have had the PRIVILEGE to watch him play these last few years. He is as competitive as they come. He is big, fast and wants to win. Personally, I can't wait to see him wear the Orange. He is very similar to a Jayson Swain-type receiver, but maybe a step faster.
You guys need to quit finding reasons to pick on 18 year old kids.

dburgVol, I agree. We are already halfway to our 4* total from this last class. Hopefully we can keep this momentum going. If we can land the Memphis WR and some quality DL depth we will have a great class in my opinion. Add a quality QB and you are looking at a great class.

That's wierd. Rivals has him listed as 6'3" 231. That is a big difference in body types from 6'5" 215.

Like I said earlier, I couldn't care less about getting respect and publicity on a large level. What I have issue with is the bias from the local paper. I do not live in Knoxville anymore, and the best way to keep up with the Vols is online. I don't expect blatant homerism, but on the same vein, I don't expect blanket negativity. We see far too much of the latter from the KNS. That is my main issue with this article and the articles on this site in general. Do not discredit your readers. I don't know. Maybe this attitude is what they are looking for because it attracts so much attention. Trying to belittle your readers doesn't seem to be the idea in the newspaper business.
To those people that have a grudge against ESPN (for whatever reason)...GET OVER IT. No way in the world can anybody that is rational can say that this season's basketball Vols have not gotten publicity. This article was dead on in that regards. And if you are just hanging onto the fact that Peyton didn't get the Heisman....GROW UP!
Whatever side of the fence you are on, understand this. Everybody has ideas and opinions. As hard as it is for people to understand, some people have different opinions that you do. In this case, do not trash the other simply for not believing the way you do. It is rather childish.
That is all.

This article sums up my feelings for the KNS to the "T".
These guys would rather spend their time on their own web site reading what people post about their articles (translation - EGO) than they would actually being out doing their jobs. They just wait to get a police report about an athlete to write about. Then when there are no police reports, they write about the fact that people other than them have opinions.
The ego these guys must have is simply amazing. They think they have been there so long that they can write whatever the heck they want to. I thought newspapers were supposed to write stories their readers were interested in reading. Instead they have turned it into a forum to spew their agendas and rhetoric. Well guess what? The posters on this forum have turned this forum into their place to spew their agendas and rhetoric.
The same freedoms that give you the right to print your "stories" in the newspaper give these posters the right to issue their feelings. I'm sorry that everybody doesn't always agree with the ever-wise, all-knowing sports staff of the KNS.
Personally, I could care less what ESPN or any of its "talking heads" think about the Vols. What I do care about is how the "local paper" takes such time and effort to tarnish the home team every chance it gets. You can say that it is not true all you want, but how then is it that so many people here say they are tired of it. Something must be going on, and something needs to be done about it.

To whoever posted the link to the Duke Crews story, THANK YOU!!!!! It takes a REAL sports writer to bring us a good story.
Where were J. Adams and the KNS bunch? I guarantee you if he would have done something negative, it would have been on page one!
These are the kind of stories that we want to read. I guess these stories take a little more effort on their part than reading a police report. These stories make them have to do some real life actual reporting instead of sitting on the tails.
Thank you Yahoo Sports for bringing this to life.

marc_ash,
The Technical on J. Smith happened when Vandy was on the free throw line at the other end of the floor from the UT bench. The other poster was right. Smith had his hands on his knees as he was being T'ed up. They even replayed it on tv. Go back and watch the tape. You might have been "right there" for Coach Pearl's T, but there is no way you could have been "right there" for the other one.
The officiating was choppy at best. The two main things I saw were, Metcalfe seemed to be looking for somebody else to "body up" all night, and how in the world is no foul called when Neltner dives on our guy? Other than that, we played pretty sloppy basketball. We were tired so we kept grabbing jersey's.
It's over now, so BEAT KENTUCKY. I'm just glad we don't play until Sunday. Maybe they will get their legs back.

It could have been a left over box of Peanut M&M's from the movies.

Yes, I know we didn't get the DT's that we wanted, but that does not mean we can't be happy with those that chose to come play here.

Our colors are orange and white...not black. The day we come out in Black uni's I will puke right there in my seat. It is fine for Uga because black is part of their color scheme. For us it is not.
