I knew there had to be an underlying reason. Thanks for shedding some light.

On Hamilton: 'it' made Kiffin stand out

If your going to keep crying, do it in private. It's very unbecoming of you to whine in public. Kiffin wasn't my first choice but so what. He's our coach and I'm ready for him to put a beatin' on florida and bama.

No black jerseys anywhere anytime! Our colors are orange and white. Leave those cheesey jersey changes to georgia.

On Kiffin rejects Spurrier's charge

You didn't read carefully enough. I didn't say Battle wasn't bad, I said none of his seasons were as bad as this one. Battle never had a losing season at UT. So,this being a losing season, makes what I said correct.

On A fond farewell: Fulmer goes out a winner

Apparently you've been out of the country this year and didn't see any games, because this season was worse than any under Bill Battle. Where were you in '05? Phil Fulmer is a classy guy but it was time for a change. We were not competitive with Florida or Alabama last year or this year. Kiffin wasn't my choice but apparently he's the guy so I'm ready for him to lead us back to prominence. I also watched the vols when Dickey, Battle and Majors coached but life went on and so did the vols after they were gone.

Big difference. Your leaving out the fact that Saban and Spurrier had both won national championships before they went to the pros. They were proven commodities. Kiffin hasn't won anything at all as a head coach. No matter how you spin it, he hasn't won anything. I hope he does here but its just pure hope no real reason to think he'll beat guys like Saban,Meyer,or Richt.

On Handoff to Lane Kiffin; announcement likely Monday

Well, I think this hire is a mistake but it really doesn't matter now because it seems to be a done deal. Anyone who has read my posts knows I wanted Chris Petersen of Boise, who finished another undefeated season tonight with a 61-10 win over Fresno, but I'll fall in behind Kiffin now. The most important thing is for UT to win. All of us who didn't get the coach we wanted need to put our disappointment aside and get behind our new coach.

Or maybe, like alot of us, he really doesn't believe Kiffin is qualified to be our next coach. A number of us have been saying that since his name first came up so why does it become some conspiracy of a memphis writer when he only says what alot of us already thought? When I said I didn't think Kiffin was qualified, I wasn't throwing chum in the water and neither is Higgins. It's just a different opinion. I just can't see anything in Kiffin's resume that makes him as good of a choice as several of the coaches that have been mentioned. I like Chris Petersen but there are others who have won that are available. I wouldn't ever hire a guy as head coach at UT who didn't have a successful head coaching resume. I know someone will say well what about this guy or that guy they were successful moving from coordinator to head coach and all I can say is I still wouldn't do it. I want more experience than that. Just a different point of view. If Kiffin does get it though, I'll support him until and unless he proves he can't get the job done. I hope, no matter who it is, that our next coach is the best in UT history. If Kiffin is the guy, I hope I am wrong about him.

On Higgins: Kiffin unqualified to coach Vols

I said "looks alot like" because the guy I was responding to said no one looks like the next Urban Meyer. Chris Petersen does. If going undefeated in the MWC is no0 big deal, Why was it a big deal for Meyer to go undefeated in the WAC? They have very similar records. Actually Petersen has a better record than Meyer did but they both won bcs games and they both recruit well. So you tell me what made Urban Meyer's record before he got the florida job better than Petersen's? As I recall, there were people saying Meyer's system would never work in the SEC and he would not be able to hold up to he meat grinder that is the sec, and now those same people are saying that about Petersen and they're probably wrong again. As far as records, I'll put Petersen's record up against Kiffin's any day. Two undefeated seasons a bcs victory over OU. How many of those did Kiffin have? I thought so.

You can't even go there. Shepherd Smith is an Ole Miss guy so you know he's anti UT.
