The skinny: A late commitment, but one the Vols had to sweat out all the way until National Signing Day, Bourque is the highest-ranked of the incoming freshmen who will be in the mix for a wide open battle at running back. That’s a place he’s excited to be, as he grew frustrated through the recruitment process by schools that wanted to try him out at wide receiver, safety and linebacker. He’ll probably have to add some bulk, but there’s plenty of time for that. If he shows the same play-making ability he did in high school, he’ll be on the field no matter how big he is. To insure that he would qualify, Bourque is finishing his high school work at The Education Center School in Jackson, Miss.
