Jim Sexton hasn't competed athletically in a year. Saturday, he won the Amateur B competition at the Smoky Mountain Highland Games at Maryville College. Sexton won the SEC championship in the hammer throw in 2006 and threw competetively in his post-collegiate years until April of 2010. He always thought about competing in the Highland games, but had commitments to the track team at the same time as the yearly festival in Gatlinburg. When his position was eliminated at UT earlier this year, he started training. In his first heavy athletics competiion, Sexton won four out of seven events.
