Lane Kiffin announced this evening, Jan. 12, 2009, that he was stepping down as head coach of the University of Tennessee to take the head coach position at the University of Southern California.

A real letdown for us that believed we had a coach that would move forward and get Tennessee football back where it should be. Maybe it is for the best - that is the way I look at it now. I do not believe he had Tennessee's interest at heart, only his own.
