No riot on campus, just a little civil disobedience

Published Jan. 13, 2010

Warning: Graphic language. Following Lane Kiffin's announcement that he was stepping down as head coach of the University of Tennessee Volunteers, rumors started flying that students were rioting on campus, police were using tear gas and the torchbearer was in danger of being torn down. Only a few of these were true. Large crowds of upset students did gather and shout things. There were a couple of mattresses and a pile of shirts that were set on fire. However, no tear gas was necessary and when students attempted to storm Neyland Stadium in order to charge the field, one lone UTPD officer held them at bay.

Bravo UTPD in the fine tradition of the Texas Rangers....One Riot, then one UT Police Officer is all that is needed.

Lane summed it up in his USC press conference. If he didn't do anything great at UT then why were the students so upset about him leaving? Way to show your butts. Too bad you couldn't put those butts in the seats at Neyland this year. Kids.

Because people set mattresses on fire all the time. Idiots. Way to rep UT!
